Moog, Prodigy @ 20 July 2009, “No Comments”

“Works perfectly and looks great. It is in its original vintage, unmodified state. Oscillators are tuned. I am the second owner. (I bought it a few years ago from a musician who said this was played with by Bowie and a few other rock luminaries can’t remember).” Link

“a rare find. bought in the late 80′s and it sounded great…although its a monophonic synth. unfortunatly someone stole the rack, which powers up the synth. i’ve heard that there is a comparable power supply from radio shack. in a nut shell, it worked before the power unit was stolen so i havent played it since the early 90′s. please buy at own risk since i can tell you it worked but i cant guarantee it since its been so long. this is my baby and i dont want to sell it but lost job and i need the money.online searches showed me that they are going for $2,000 to $1,700…but since i dont have the power supply, it will be a great find for someone at a good price. these are very hard to find so consider yourselves lucky..lol. this is the musical instrument that ushered in the electronic music era, the moog was the first proffesional grade synthesizer and was very popular with serious musicians like james brown, herbie hancock, and a few more musicians.” Link

“Today I am auctioning off one Roland SH-101 synth with bundled hard case and the original manual. This synth is in AMAZING condition, especially considering it’s an old keyboard. It seriously looks like it just rolled out of the factory (Looks like someone may have put some tape on the battery cover on some point, but that’s it!). Sounds perfect (gotta love that early 80′s Roland sound) as well and all the sliders move with ease. It doesn’t come with a 9v adapater but you can find those anywhere like walmart or radio shack. The original manual is included and is in fine shape as well, could probably use a new stapling or possible inclusion into a binder.” Link

” Don’t know much about this other than it works great. No dirty knobs or keys. All keys and voices work. No midi. Serial #171636. Sold AS IS.” Link

Korg, MS-20 @ 18 July 2009, “No Comments”

“Up for auction is this Korg MS-20 Analog Synthesizer in mint condition.

I am the original owner and purchased this beauty on April 26, 1979.

It has been kept in pristine condition, never played outside of my smoke free home studios.

Everything is in perfect working order, the only change from it’s original state is a minor one -

The small black rubber plug that covers the adjustment pot in the Portamento module has been replaced with a hard plastic rounded top plug (as shown in the close-up picture).

You can hear the amazing bass from this synth on 2 tracks of my self-released CD, just go to www.songpeddler.com and in the search box enter ‘Jimmy Pantel’. The tracks ‘Concertina’ and ‘Cool man Luke’ were recorded using this very synth up for auction for the bass tracks.” Link

“The MS-01 is a special type of foot control unit designed to give complete control of all synthesizer functions. This pedal is equipped with an attenuator so that it can be used to control volume or M G modulation depth. Uses a 9 volt battery( not included). Remove rubber feet on bottom to install/access battery. Includes owners manual which describes in detail the uses for this unique pedal. This pedal is over 20 years old and shows wear but works fine. Heavy duty metal housing.” Link

“In excellent condition with only a few scratches/chips; recently serviced by Advanced Musical Electronics, LA’s premiere synth repair place. Serial No. 2380. We have had it for a number of years and the only reason why we are selling is because we no longer have the room to keep it set up and use it effectively. Weighs a ton; local pick-up in the Los Angeles, CA area welcome. Cashier’s check only. ” Link

“Mint condition, original box & manual. AC adaptor for USA ; other countries, too. (110/125 volt AC) Included. Custom duties for account of buyer ” Link

“This item is used with noticeable scratches on rack ears. Front, back, top and sides are in good condition.” Link

“This is an extremely rare accessory made by Sequential in the early 80′s. It allows you to store patches and sound parameters in memory for synths that don’t have that capability, and be able to re-call them instantly… great for live performance! Works with Minimoogs too- I have the complete set of cables necessary to interface with a Minimoog. It’s in good working conditon and is good cosmetically too, as you can see from the photos. It comes with the case; unfortunately I don’t have the manual for this but you might find it somewhere online.” Link

“This listing is for a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 REV 3.1 vintage analog synthesizer. The synth is 100% functional and was recently gone through by my service tech. It is in excellent physical condition and sounds great. Serial #2288. It will come with original manual. ” Link

“Parting further with analogue synthesisers that i will no longer be keeping, This is a Arp Pro-Soloist,made by Arp between 1972 and 1977,its a 37 note monosynth with 30 presets and features aftertouch,as used by Tony Banks and the group Genesis, and also Gary Numan on Telekon Album.Selling as faulty as the faults as follows, only the bottom presets work and out of those Sax is silent and Fuzz Guitar is very quiet, the bottom white key does not play, only the Growl works on the aftertouch works, but the Portamento is fine, as is Volume,Brilliance and Octave Section, the volume slider is ok but the other 3 are a little stiff ,however new sliders are included ( see picture), one top white note key is broken and i have included a spare ,the spare has a crack on one side but the top is fine and this will do till a better one can be bought by whoever wins auction,on the underneath 2 rubber feet are missing, but to be quite frank its nothing a visit to your local stores will soon fix that issue very very cheap. The right side wood end panel is loose but a simple screw will again fix that, overall the synth is in good shape with exellent panel legend ,there is a little uneven part of the control panel at the far right end where the screw goes for the wood panel, the wood panels are very good condition. This classic Arp synthesiser has a few issues that i believe can be put right, the fact that it actually makes sound is a good start, like most Arp synths rare and getting harder to find.” Link

ARP, Axxe @ 15 July 2009, “No Comments”

“A rare opportunity to buy a classic Arp Axxe. Model No. 2311. It was manufactured in 1976 and is one of the early models (I believe they first appeared in 1975). Its a Monophonic analogue variable synthesizer which allows you to shape all aspects of its sound via sliders. This early model will no doubt have the copyright infringing version of a Moog filter that was later discontinued after ARP and MOOG argued in the courts – don’t ask me where or what it is though! Just another piece of music history.. This one has been sitting quietly in my attic for many years (I’m a guitarist not a keyboard player) and it deserves a good home!. I can get quite a few interesting sound out of it, but I can’t confirm whether it is fully functional hence I’d recommend a service/overhaul. Some of the keys as you can see from the photo, have acquired the patina of age (I thought only Ivory did that!) which depending on your point of view adds to its “vintage look”. Its an interesting synth, great piece of music history. I’ll try and answer any questions you may have. Apart from the faded ivory effect keys, overall it is in good condition for a vintage 33 year old. I also have .pdfs of the Owners Manual and Service Manual. ” Link

“Everything gone through by CMS/Discrete Synthesizers

Everything works great, two sliders are slightly not smooth enough but well within performance standards.
Case has “musty” aroma, was told because of original glue used. There is a guy who builds beautiful, custom wood cases for these which this one is a prime candidate for.

Gone through, replaced or repaired
caps
vcos
filters
reverb
jacks
vp2
s/h
ring mod

Upgraded
APU-heavy duty power supply
sync switches
eg switches
1/4 inch pack
variable filter tracking
upgrades performed

Will include original keyboard which has had nothing done to it so thrown in “as-is.”

While local pickup is encouraged, will pack well if buyer pays for packing material.
Since unit was used along with MIDI converter being sold on one of my other auctions, keyboard was never updated.

If you’re looking for a high-performance ARP 2600, then this is it!
Gone through and upgraded and used for one project then offered on Ebay.

A very special and rare unit…” Link

Serge @ 14 July 2009, “No Comments”

“This auction is for…
1 Serge panel, 1 Serge power supply, and 16 banana plug cords of various length
the modules are…
1 Preamp Detector Module
1 Wave Multipliers Module
1 Variable Slope VCF Module
1 Resonant EQ Module
1 Universal Audio Processor
1 Dual Universal Slope Generator
1 Quadrature Oscillator Module
and 1 Random Source Module
I think the power supply will only power one panel (as it only has one cable out) but i’m not an expert on this and this was the only Serge panel I’ve had.
The Panel is in great shape. Everything works exactly as it should. I’ve owned it for maybe two years and never had any issues. Cosmetically it looks great too. The face is clean. there are scratches around the mounting holes ( that will be covered when mounted ) and on the sides. I know I’m going to regret selling this synth :( but I need money! new this synth would be around $3700. I would like this transaction to run smoothly and for this panel to have a happy home, so only bidders with decent feedback please. If you have any questions, please contact me. I had it packed up very well so it will ship well protected. Insurance is mandatory. I’ll give a 3 day guarantee in the US but none abroad as it seems like it could be trouble. International bidders please contact me first if interested, but please don’t get mad if I won’t ship to your country. Thanks for looking!!” Link

“EMS Synthi AKS purchased from Robin Wood of EMS in 1994 after factory refurbishing!
Includes power, keyboard cable, manual, + shipping box from EMS.

Rare chance to own an amazing instrument!

This synth needs to be serviced!
I wanted to state that up front! It is functional and usable, but it could use a good service to get it back to 100%. It is almost 40 years (!) old, and not a museum
piece, having been owned and used by working musicians (myself and the original owner.)

Lettering to left of pin matrix was repaired w/ by EMS (see detail photo), as well as Gate Input modification performed by EMS.
Keyboard touchplate and sequencer work (although not the transpose or random keys; they never functioned, a caveat from Robin when I purchased it.)
One of the screws holding the AKS in the lid has lost its knurled cap (See exterior lid detail photo) but AKS is not loose.” Link

“Unit in overall good condition. Highlights regarding condition and functionality:

* Panels and keys fully-functional.
* Pitch wheel is scratchy; may require service for original functionality.
* A previous owner applied a custom blue-colored stain or finish to the metal portions of the case. This finish looks “factory” except for inconspicuous imperfections around inputs/outputs on the back of the case (see photos 6 and 7). The method used to apply this blue finish is unknown.
* Minor knicks and scratches in wood panels consistent with normal use and age of instrument (see photo 8).

The seller purchased the instrument several years ago. Prior history of instrument unclear.” Link

“Up for bid is a Roland Juno 6 synthesizer. This synth has been powered on and tested. All the keys an knobs appear to be working fine. About 1/2 the knobs on the sliders are missing, but they work fine. There are some scratches on it, and the wood on the left side has some damage on it. (You can see it in the 2nd picture)” Link

“This is auction is for a vintage 1980′s Roland Juno-106 Programmable Polyphonic Synthesizer in excellent condition. The Roland Juno-106 is a very common and widely used analog polysynth. It continues to be one of the most popular analog synths due to its great sound and easy programmability. The Roland Juno-106 is a six-voice polyphonic and programable analog synth with one digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) per voice. While classic monophonic synths used two or three oscillators to create a fatter sound, the JUNO-106 uses built-in Chorus to fatten up its sound to dramatic effect. The nature of its DCO meant it was stable and always in perfect tune but still warm and analog. There is an excellent 24dB/oct analog lowpass filter with plenty of resonance and self-oscillating possibilities and a non-resonant highpass filter. ” Link

SVC-350 @ 12 July 2009, “No Comments”

“This auction is for a Roland SVC-350 vintage analog vocoder. It is renowned as one of the finest vocoders available as it includes an adjustable 11-band equalizer to refine your sound, (which was not available on the Roland VP-330 or Korg VC-10). This unit is in excellent functional condition. It has some small scuffs but the the faceplate is clean. The SVC-350 combines the signal of a guitar/synthesizer with your voice (or other input). Note: The SVC-350 is not a synthesizer and requires carrier and voice signals to produce sounds. More information can be found at vintagesynth.com.

This auction is for the SVC-350 only. (No other gear shown in the pictures is part of this sale.) Buyer will receive the Roland SVC-350 (power cable is attached) and a photocopied manual. ” Link

“The only minor damage is a small scuff on the corners of the woodgrain and a small dent on one of the inputs in the rear of the machince (both can be seen in the pictures and neither affects the playability of the instrument). DX-7, Yamaha @ 10 July 2009, “No Comments”

“Up for bids is the vintage Yamaha DX7 featured in the photo. You will be hard-pressed to find a synth of this vintage in better condition. It was definitely well cared for, and is in very clean condition. This synth looks as great as it sounds!

The synth has been tested and appears to be operating as intended. Outputs, modulation, pitch, volume, data slider, sustain, and cartridges have all been tested. The only flaw in operation appears to be that the bottom row of internal sounds seem to have been altered (strange characters appear on the display, and quiet, spacey sounds play instead). This should not be a problem, however. The synth comes with 2 cartridges, one of them already contains the original master set of sounds. Plus, it appears as if this machine can be initialized using a computer if you know what you are doing and so desire. I will leave this to your expertise, however.

The synth comes with 2 memory cartridges, the sustain pedal, and a soft gig case shown in the photos. Please note that the power cord is a bit unusual (please see photo) because of where the unit was purchased. The following is the description the original owner gave me…”The DX-7 was purchased at Tom Lee’s in 1986, the biggest and largest music dealer in Hong Kong. It resided in Beijing for three years, then 3 more in Hong Kong. Never did any duty on the road. It easily changes to electricity standards of the Far East as well as U.S. using a switch on the back and the adapter on the power cord.”

The only physical flaw that should be mentioned is that there seems to be a loose screw inside the case. It slides back and forth along the front of the case under the keys. It does not appear to be near any electronics or to be of any consequence at all, But I felt it should be mentioned.

Bottom line…this synth is in extremely nice condition, and I am sure it will make you happy. Please keep in mind that I am not an expert on this piece of equipment, and I encourage questions and welcome input so that I can represent the unit as accurately as possible. If there is some special function that you think I may not have tested, please let me know and I’d be happy to help! ” Link

DX-7, Yamaha @ 10 July 2009, “No Comments”

“this yamaha synth is in the best condition than others here. it has about 4 tiny nicks barely noticable. 2 on top side. other 2 on bottom. besides that looks like new. the battery is at 4.5V (new). this beautiful dx7 will arrive in a soft carry bag with the ORIGINAL ROM1 Sounds, an ORIGINAL data ram cartridge, ROM3 and ROM4 cartridges, music book holder, bc-1 breath controller, sustain foot pedal, ORIGINAL Operational Manual and a binder full of voice data sheets (blank and used) to record your own programmed sounds.” Link

DX100, Yamaha @ 10 July 2009, “No Comments”

Functionally, this unit is 100% perfect as far as I can tell. I tested it fairly thoroughly and there were no sticky keys or other such problems. The sound was crisp and clear as it should be. Like any used keyboard there are some typical minor scuffs and scratches etc. but nothing really worth mentioning. It is definitely in the “excellent condition” category.

The DX100 is a small and portable DX synthesizer from Yamaha. Like all DX’s it uses (FM) Frequency Modulation synthesis. It’s not the easiest form of synthesis to program but can result in some excellent sounds. The DX100 is not as flexible nor powerful as a DX7, but it does have some cool sounds. It is most renowned for its great analog bass sound (Patch #01) that is awesome for techno, house, jungle, and acid music styles; it’s very gritty, the bass tone with gristle!

The DX-100 has mini-keys and 49 of them in all. Small pitch and mod wheels in the upper left and guitar strap pegs make this synth usable for live use if you’re feeling whimsical (read: KEYTAR TIME!). If you mess around with the settings on Parameter 13, even if you don’t know anything about FM, you can get some seriously twisted sounds out of it. If you’re willing to spend a little time with it, it has a lot more potential than just that one bass sound. It is used by Orbital, Scanner, Jean-Michel Jarre, Autechre, Laurent Garnier, and countless other house and dance artists.

If you’re familiar with Roger Troutman and his famed talkbox technique, you’ll know that the DX100 is the actual synthesizer used for this setup. Yes, the DX100 has a breath controller input!” Link

“These are getting tougher and tougher to find, especially in such great condition, with the plastic reference pullout sheet still in tact and attached. This TX 816 is fully loaded with 8 TF1 units, basically giving you 8 DX7s. It is truly the pinnacle of classic FM synthesis. The unit works great, except there is one segment of one TF1 display that does not light (check the pics). You can still tell what the display is saying and it hasn’t been an issue for me. There is a little rack rash on top (check the pics), but it looks almost perfect mounted in the rack. ” Link

“You are bidding on a very nice Yamaha SHS-200 MIDI Keytar. A/C power supply is included, though of course it can run on batteries as well.

Most people are more familiar with the smaller, bright red SHS-10. The SHS-200 is the successor of the SHS-10 and is in many ways a more professional instrument. It features a larger keyboard, more voices and styles, and greater flexibility in terms of options and features. It even has STEREO speakers built in! The best part is that you can MIDI this keytar to a sound module or another keyboard and get any kind of sound that you want.

If you are looking for a nice keytar with a great stage presence, the SHS-200 is a great choice because you will stand out from the crowd. There aren’t too many SHS-200′s out there nowadays – it is definitely a rare bird!

I have tested it out thoroughly and it works perfectly. No broken or malfuctioning keys here. The strap is included as shown. The only cosmetic issue to be mentioned is a neat white square spot on the first key from the left. There was formerly a sticker there and it therefore did not keep color with the rest of the keys.” Link

“reviously owned by Fantasy Studios in Berkeley CA. Their sticker label is still attached on the back & “fantasy” written in the circuit board. I was told that this board was used by famous artist such as Stevie Wonder & other major artist that recorded at Fantasy during its period. I don’t have any documentation to proove this. This board stayed in Fantasy Studios since they acquired it until 1995. Has been stored since mid 1990′s.

FUNCTION: This board doesn’t power up. A few wires are disconnected including the power supply, check pictures. My tech said that the power supply is good (no guarantee). NO POWER/NO SOUND. NEVER HEARD IT PLAY. I was told that it has been in this condition since 1995.

PHYSICAL CONDITION. Appears to be in very good cosmetic condition with minor scratches, minor dings, scuffs due to used. Wood panels are still in pretty good shape w/ minor dings. Bottom panel has minor scratches, still good. Few screws on the back are missing. 1 or 2 screws on the bottom are missing. Front panel looks good as well. ” Link

2600, ARP @ 08 July 2009, “No Comments”

“This unit is part of the Rick Powell Collection. Rick was a musician, a major producer and a contemporary and close friend of Bob Moog, among others, and often received original units from manufacturers to test in the studios. Rick was my studio partner up until the day he passed away and his wife has asked me to sell some of the items that were studio kept for many years. There are many treasures in this collection and we will be adding them as they are photographed, tested and cataloged.
This is the Arp 2600P and I wish I could keep this one. It’s the keyboard I always wanted reading Contemporary Keyboard back in the day. I tried to get it working myself but am no technician at all. This unit is used but not abused. The case has a little wear on it. The keyboard is clean and intact. The modules are clean with little wear and hardly any scratches although one module in the upper left is missing 2 of the plastic pieces that attach to the metal sliders. Also, on the keyboard, you can see that there is a knob missing although it does turn easily.
We can’t find any patch cables although there are rumors of a massive box of patch cables we have yet to find among all of Rick’s toys in his garage. You can ask previous buyers that I’m very communicative and I’m still in touch with them as I look for certain patch cables or a pedal. Should we ever run across this mythical box of cables, we have several to send out to previous buyers and will do it with due diligence to each buyer.
We plugged this in several times to get it up and running but no luck. I was really looking forward to hearing this thing wail. I even bought a blond wig so I could pretend I was Edgar Winter. OK not really.
We will ship this in 2 separate packages and we always package very carefully.” Link

“You are bidding on a used Crumar Spirit in excelent condition . On a scale of 1 to 10 this one is a 9. Only 100 made in the world in the 1980′s .This synth is number 88. Extremely clean +++ Kept in a smoke free environment.
If you are here, you probably already know the history on this Rare Crumar Spirit .The Spirit is one of the most complex, challenging, and – above all – powerful monosynths ever produced. . Sounds amazing- aggressive & fat. Everything works great. This one is a gem. The Crumar Spirit was originally designed by Bob Moog( himself), Jim Scott & Tom Rhea and released back in 1983.
It has a 37 note keboard with 2 vco’s.The two oscillators feature basic sawtooth, triangle and square waves and can be synced together.” Link

“This listing is for a CMI Fairlight 2X sampling system. The unit is 100% functional down to the lightpen and monitor which still works great. “Up for auction is a very rare 1983 Octave Plateau Voyetra Eight analog synthesizer as used by New Order (see Perfect Kiss 10 minute version on YouTube) and Eurythmics, among others. I bought it from a musician in New York about 10 years ago who claimed he was the former keyboardist of the Tom Tom Club (ex-Talking Heads members). He said he used it in several live shows when they toured in the mid-80′s and had two of these synths. He sold me one of them. I’ve used it on several of my own personal projects and songs over the years, particularly on my cover of New Order’s “Your Silent Face”. It’s an extremely rare synth on the used market, and even more rare to find in stable, fully-functioning condition. It blows away any other analog polysynth I’ve ever used or played, including the CS-80 (at least sonically). If you’ve been looking to add one to your studio, this is the one you want.
The former owner of this synth lived down the street from Phil Lanzilotta in New York City, who is the only person I know of who has the parts, schematics, and extender cards to maintain these synths. Over the years, whenever upgrades became available for the synth, he brought it to Phil to upgrade it. As a result, the synth has all of the latest software and cards and has been extremely stable over the years. I’ve had zero issues with the synth and it’s remained rackmounted in my non-smoking studio over the years and only moved when my studio moved. The fan tends to be a bit loud but it’s a simple computer fan and a replacement could likely be sourced. All buttons, switches, jacks, and knobs function perfectly, with no crackly pots. Everything functions perfectly. MIDI functions perfectly. Arpeggiator sync input functions perfectly. Again, I’ve had zero issues in my over 10 years of owning it. It has always tuned up perfectly every time within a minute of turning it on, something that apparently is a rarity with these synths. I took a video of it going through the tuning process to show that all voices are in tune and will attempt to link to that after I get the auction up and running, or can send the link to those interested via email.” Link

“SPECS: Polyphony – 6 Voices, Oscillators – 3 VCO’s per voice (pulse, saw, triangle, or any combination), LFO – triangle, pulse, sine, and square waves, Filter – One 24 dB/oct lowpass VCF w/ ADSR per voice, Keyboard – 61 keys, Effects – None, Arpeg/Seq – Sample & Hold, Memory – 100 patches, Control – CV / Gate (MIDI available by retro-fit/modification only), Date Produced – 1982 – 1985. this keyboard is basically 6 Minimoogs with digital memory, midi, and patch storage and has been retrofitted with the midi kit by Syntronics of Boston – FULLY FUNCTIONAL except for the following small issues:

1. upper C# key is not working. every other key works perfectly.
2. ‘enter’ and ’9′ buttons in the system controller section need to be pressed hard but they do work
3. the low button in the Oscillator 3 section needs to be pressed hard as well.
4. fine frequency control knob top on in the Oscillator 2 section is missing. you can adjust the frequency fine, but the knob that gives you a more finite adjustment is what’s missing – see picture as to what it should look like comparing it with Oscillator 3 section. all other knobs, keys, switches, LED’s work.
5. some of the buttons need to be pressed a little harder than others, but they are still perfectly functional and you do not need to press them as hard as the ‘enter’,’9′, and ‘low’ buttons that are previously noted.

NONE of the potentiometers are scratchy! All audio outputs are fully functional as are the midi inputs and outputs.
The following inputs and outputs HAVE NOT been tested:
Footpedal In, External Synthesizer Out, Footswitch In, Clock, Cassette Interface, and Sequencer inputs. Judging from the condition and functionality of the rest of the keyboard we can assume that they work fine, but we lack the proper CV pedals to test those functions. Auto-tune functions works and will tune all 6 Oscillators. Oscillator tuning is relatively stable. Unit will stay in tune for roughly 1 hour before you experience some Oscillator drifting. Auto-tune feature resolves this.
cosmetically in great shape – no ding/dents/chips in the wood, small ding on rear bottom panel as shown, and front has some small scratches along the bottom panel as well. this comes with hardshell road case in good shape, very sturdy, small crack in the outer plastic that covers the wood but not a usablilty issue. case IS however, missing the handle and has some slight rust on the metal corners. power cord IS included.” Link
