ARP, Odyssey @ 31 December 2008, “No Comments”

“I’ve owned this vintage synth for about 10 years and have used it in several recording situations. It has been stored in its case while not in use during these past 10 years. This model of the Odyssey was built between 1976 and 1978. Apparently there were only 3,000 Odysseys made, I would guess this was number 929 based on the serial.

In all honesty, I have no idea how the “correct” way to play this is. I simply turned knobs and switches and created some amazing sounds. For me, the purpose of owning and recording with this classic instrument was purely for experimentation and it was well worth it. You just can’t get these sounds with any modern piece of equipment.

As far as I can tell, it works fine. A couple noticable drawbacks are as followed:

* The sixth black key from the left sticks for about a half second after pressing it before coming back up.
* Three of the sliders have had the tips broken off (see picture). This happened before I owned it. The sliders still work, but just the metal tips are broken. I usually just used my fingernail to move the VCO 2 FM Left and the VCO 2 Pulse Width, but the VCO 2 FM Right is broken to where you can’t get to it. After looking online, it seems like these pots and sliders can be purchased and replaced from a variety of resources.
* There is a cap missing off the VCO 1 FM Left (see picture).

Other than these three items, it seems like all the switches and sliders work fine. It comes with a portamento footswich. Truthfully, I’m not sure if this works or not. I’ve barely used it, and it doesn’t seem to change the tone when I have it plugged in, however, I might just have the switches incorrectly positioned. It also comes with a Xerox copy of the owner’s manual.

At some point in time before I was the owner, an additional 2-position switch was added above the keyboard (see picture). I do not know exactly what this switch is, but I know the tones change when you move the switch, so it must do something. Another fun switch to play with as far as I was concerned.

This also comes with a wooden carrying case. It isn’t pretty and looks like the case was homemade, but it works well. The case is made out of solid wood and keeps the synth secure inside. I’ve recently just replaced one hinge on this because it was starting to rust. ” Link

“For auction is one Arp 2600 analog synthesizer console and keyboard. All functions are working but some minor cleaning and calibrating may be required. The keyboard contacts are fine, with no re-triggering etc. The 2600 is a great unit for external processing, as well as playing outright. Hard to find in clean shape as this one is…

This unit is stock save for a simple mod to the filter to allow higher frequencies to pass, and another to the reverb gain structure to minimize noise (it worked great). There are no broken slider shafts or missing slider caps. The modules are not encapsulated so repairs are easy. When I first got this unit I had to change out some of the patch jacks, but there haven’t been any issues since. I’m just not using this and it’s a shame for it to sit in a closet. Shipping will be a flat $200 for US bidders, with $50 being for packing materials (this is a large and heavy unit). International shipping is an estimate: this will be arranged at the auctions end at actual cost plus a $50 packing fee (check with the carrier of your choice for service and rates). Thanks for looking!!” Link

“Picked up this at a yard sale earlier this year…Fully tested, everything (sampler, keyboard, etc) works great…still has battery cover…no corrosion or anything!!! And best of all…It’s PINK!!! I did a lot of searching on the net about this one, and found VERY little information other than it’s VERY VERY RARE…Some info can be found here:

http://www.retrothing.com/2006/10/casio_sk1_sampl.html

Very little wear (not mint, but great shape…I figure it’s been stored for the last 15 or so years). No box or manual, but the manual can be easily downloaded (it’s really not that diffiicult to figure out). If you’re into circuit bending, well, the colors are all ready for whatever monstrosity you can make this into!!!” Link

The quintessential synth to circuit-bend, these are all in their unbent, virgin state. Great gritty sampler on this one too!

I am the original owner of this awesome piece of equipment. It has had a great time making wild and tangled sounds in my smoke free home studio for several years. The uses for KYMA are truly limitless and the quality of the output is unsurpassed. I will include a disc containing several years of very twisted homemade algorithms and many interesting homemade waveforms. I will be sure to pass on all the original licensing information, so that you can receive Symbolic Sound´s great support, and gain access to the user forum to receive and trade great homemade synthesis creations!” Link

MG-1, Moog @ 29 December 2008, “No Comments”

Radio Shack version of the Moog, and it actually sounds good, from before the time they started selling cell phones. “This is in Excellent/Very Good Condition for its age with just a few small marks/blemishes. Was always well kept and with its all due respect. Just a couple of the knobs have just a tad and I mean just a tad bit of scratchiness, but a little contact spray should clear this all up. Thats it, otherwise your looking real good on this RARE great sounding anlaog synth! Enjoy!” Link

“This listing is for a Moog Memorymoog Plus vintage analog synthesizer. The synth is in perfect functional condition and while it does have some scuffs and scratches I would still say that it’s in good cosmetic shape. I just had it serviced All contacts were cleaned, oscillators were calibrated and it stays in tune quite nicely.

Memorymoog, Moog @ 29 December 2008, “No Comments”

“The six-voice MemoryMoog was, in my opinion, potentially the finest analogue polysynth ever made.

It was the last synth ever made by Moog but was very late in coming to a market that had been dominated by the Prophet 5, the Oberheim OB series and the Roland Jupiter 8 for several years, a market that was soon to be turned on its head with the arrival of MIDI, FM synthesis and sampling.

Tthe MemoryMoog had an exemplary spec: per voice, it had three audio oscillators each with simultaneous (i.e. not switched) waveforms, it had the famous Moog filter and two ADSR envelopes (one for filter and other duties, one for amplitude). It also had a versatile, multi-waveform LFO, a comprehensive modulation (and cross modulation) matrix, memories and more…

It had PWM, oscillator sync, a super-fat Unison mode where all 18 oscillators were played from one key, various monophonic and polyphonic playing and triggering options – a later model even had a sequencer! On paper it was like six super-charged MiniMoogs in one polyphonic box

Wonderful – big, fat and brash but also capable of subtlety. It could do everything from truly fat basses, cutting leadlines, warm pads, lush strings, punchy brass, spiky clavs and more. Its versatile cross-modulation facilities also allowed sounds that would normally only be possible on a modular system as Oscillator 3 modulated Oscillators 1 and/or 2 and/or the filter in a variety of different ways.

Ive had no problems with this Memorymoog, except the “1″ button doesn’t work on the keypad, that is an easy fix. otherwise it sounds beautiful and looks great.

“Up for sale is this amazing 100% analog Roland System 100 101 Synthesizer. It is in beautiful cosmetic condition and very clean. Has the same VCF as a Roland TB-303 but with a much fatter selection of waveforms from the VCO. I used this as part of a Eurorack modular system and it integrated perfectly with all external sequencers and CVs. It has an amazingly unique and classic Roland sound. Up for sale is this rare vintage analog synthesizer from the Roland System-100. It is in immaculate and fully functional condition and is an amazingly warm sounding analog synth.” Link

“I am selling a used Roland TR-606 “Drumatix” drum machine (sort of a baby TR-808). This comes with its owners manual, carrying bag, and an aftermarket “wall wart” power supply (I am quite sure it will also work with a Boss PSA-120 power supply or equivalent: 9v DC output, tip negative polarity). Please note: this drum machine does not accept MIDI (it is a pre-MIDI era device). It does accept Roland 24 ppqn “DIN sync” (there exist various boxes that can convert MIDI sync to DIN sync). The machine is in excellent operational and physical condition. I was the original purchaser of this unit. I’ve had it sitting around unused for years; it is time to pass it along.” Link

All parameters function perfectly. Its in mint condition, not a scratch on it. Part of the legendary Roland SH series, a legendary and absolutely awesome sounding analogue monosynth. Huge fat bass, powerful analogue leads and much more. Great arpeggiator and sequencer built in! A simple and esoterically perfect design! Being such a popular machine with a plastic case, they are very difficult to find in this sort of condition. The synth has only been used in a non-smoking studio environment. Battery compartment is totally spotless so it’s had no nasty battery acid leakages over the years. Comes with manual and both strap holders and controller so you can use it as a keytar!
